Pfaelzer Federweiser


Here we go – the wine harvest has begun and the scent and rumbling of the Federweißer or "Neuer Wein" in the barrels fills the cellars.

 

The fermentation process converts the glucose in the must to alcohol. The term Federweißer is due to the milky-cloudy colour that reminds us of thousands of swirling feathers.

The Federweißen or Roter Rauscher (made from red grapes) is available only during harvest time.

 

It has a high content of vitamins and bio elements of the wine yeast. The refreshing and tingly new wine is served with onion tarte, tarte flambé or chestnuts.
